The Congress of Education in Katowice is a joint venture of the city of Katowice and the University of Silesia, represented by the Open University of the University of Silesia. The event, which will take place on October 26, 2019 at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Silesia, is addressed to school managers, teachers, lecturers, educators, parents and all those who implement new educational solutions. The slogan of the 5th jubilee edition will be “School ‒ a learning community”.
This year’s Congress will differ significantly from the previous editions of this event, primarily due to the innovative formula and the participation of a foreign expert in the field of education and creativity. The participants, thanks to the Bullerbyn Foundation and the Element Publishing House, the organizers of the Creative Education Conference in Warsaw, will have the opportunity to listen to the lecture by Sir Ken Robinson, who will take part in the symposium organized in Poland for the first time. He will talk about the revolution in education through live streaming.
The second part of the meeting will take place in the Open Space Technology formula, in which smaller seminar and discussion groups will be organized instead of the traditional workshops. Some of the topics will be proposed by the organizers, but the majority will be decided on by the event participants. It will be an opportunity for free exchange of reflections, ideas, knowledge, experiences and specific plans. After the Congress, its participants will receive the reports summarizing their work in each discussion and seminar group.
