[ONLINE] Rector’s Awards

11.03.2021 - 12:15, update 17.03.2021 - 09:00
Editors: OO

The remote gala of the 12th edition of Rector’s Awards will be held on Thursday, 18 March at 6 p.m. The meeting will be hosted by His Magnificence Rector and Vice-Rector for Education and Students. The event will also include a short concert.

In the previous editions, the award gala was always a University feast during which the academic community enjoyed the achievements of its younger members together. The pandemic reality made us painfully aware of the value of staying together, especially in such joyful moments. We encourage you to take part in this event in the only possible form at the moment – remotely. Let our students and doctoral students feel our pride with their achievements at least in this limited form.

Overall, 35 individuals were awarded in this edition, including 6 from the Open University (Children’s University of Silesia, Teenagers’ University of Silesia and Third Age University) as well as 19 students and 10 doctoral students. The event will be also the opportunity to announce the winners of Student of the Year and Doctoral Student of the Year contest, selected by the academic community by vote carried out via USOSWEB.

You can watch the gala live on Facebook and YouTube channels of the University of Silesia. The winner profiles are available at: us.edu.pl/student/dzialalnosc-studencka/wyroznienia-jm-rektora-us/laureaci-xii-edycji/.

The Rector’s Awards Contest has been organised since 2009. 354 individuals were awarded in the previous eleven editions. Awards for students and doctoral students are granted for social, cultural and popular scientific activities, initiatives supporting the student life, as well as scientific, artistic and sports achievements.
