The University Council has strongly supported the position taken by Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, Rector of the University of Silesia, which was expressed in his letter addressed to the academic community on 26 October 2020, referring to the pandemic situation and numerous social protests in consequence of the decision taken by the Constitutional Tribunal. Members of the University Council share the Rector’s opinion, according to which, in the context of the growing social conflict, the University should be a model for public debate. Moreover, they are convinced that students, the youngest and most promising generation of the academic community, will continue to develop their knowledge and care for the most important humanistic values in a free and unrestricted manner.
