It is equally good to talk and listen about science – even if the subject of the discussion seems to be complicated for us. We believe that the combination of scientists’ passion and experience with the charisma of science communicators will attract and inspire us to discover new worlds that we frequently had no idea about. This assumption underlies the activities launched as part of Scientific Premiere Stage at the University of Silesia (SPN UŚ).

Starting from November 2020 year, out of concern for the integration of our community, as well as to increase our visibility on international arena, we will systematically present the new scientific achievements of our academics, doctoral students and students. At the Scientific Premiere Stage we will organise meet-the-author sessions in the form of talk show, promotions of publications, interviews and chamber cultural events.

As part of series Scientific Premiere Stage: Books, together with the University of Silesia Press, we will recommend you a book of the week, written by an employee of the University of Silesia. We will begin the series with the awarded and socially significant book by Prof. Ryszard Kaczmarek entitled: Silesian Uprisings 1919–1920–1921: an Unknown Polish-German War.

The first interview as part of Scientific Premiere Stage: Books was conducted by Jarosław Juszkiewicz, Polish Radio journalist, ambassador of the Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE and graduate of the University of Silesia. The material is available on the YouTube channel of the University of Silesia.

We also encourage you to take part in another series Scientific Premiere Stage: Science Talk Show, which will be inaugurated in “Miejscownik. Tygiel Kulturalny” bookshop in Katowice  at ul. Warszawska on 19 November 2020. The event will be transmitted online. Detailed information will be available soon.
