Daniel Tammet\u2019s webinar \u201cOn career and professional development\u201d will be held as part of \u201eAware University of Silesia\u201d social campaign. Tthe interview will be conducted by Dr Sonia Szramek-Karcz<\/a>\u00a0from the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Silesia.<\/p>\n

The event will be translated to Polish and Polish Sign Language, as well as broadcast on \u201eFacebook<\/a>\u201d and YouTube channel of the University of Silesia in Katowice<\/a>.<\/p>\n

About the lecturer<\/h3>\n

Daniel Tammet \u2013 British autistic savant with above-average arithmetic and linguistic skills. He is fluent in 11 languages: English, French, Finnish, German, Spanish, Lithuanian, Romanian, Estonian, Icelandic, Welsh and Esperanto. Moreover, he has created his own language called M\u00e4nti (based on Estonian and Finnish).\u00a0 He is also a synthetist \u2013 he attributes a colour, landscape, texture or shape to each number not higher than 10,000, which helps him remember complex sequences of digits. He has proven his talent by becoming the European record-holder in reciting 22,514 pi number digits from memory. He is also the author of several books: \u201eBorn on a Blue Day: Inside the Extraordinary Mind of an Autistic Savant”, \u201eThinking in Numbers: How Maths Illuminates Our Lives<\/a>\u201d and \u201eMishenka\u201d.<\/p>\n
