The date is not accidental; it refers to the American date format for 14 March: 3,14. The following digits of \u03c0 are \u201c15\u201d which are of great importance this year.<\/p>\n<p>First: this year we celebrate the 15th Pi Day,<\/p>\n<p>Second: this year\u2019s celebration will take place on 15 March 2021 (Monday). On 14 March (Sunday), we encourage you to have some rest and prepare for a joint celebration. On Monday, we invite you to the first activities starting at 8:00 AM.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the pandemic, the 15th Pi Day will be held remotely.<\/p>\n<h3>Inaugural lecture<\/h3>\n<p>The opening is scheduled at 9:42 AM (3\u03c0); it will start with the inaugural lecture entitled \u201eWyr\u00f3wnywanie temperatur \u2013 przewodnictwo, promieniowanie i konwekcja\u201d (Temperature equalization \u2013 conductivity, radiation and convection) by Jerzy Jarosz, PhD, who was awarded the \u201cPopularizer of Science 2020\u201d prize<\/p>\n<h3>Programme<\/h3>\n<p>The programme of the event consists of numerous popular science lectures, various workshops, and shows that will introduce many interesting issues in the field of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and materials science. Lectures and workshops will be held via the ZOOM platform; registration is required in order to actively participate in the activities and ask questions.<\/p>\n<p>The event is organised by the <a href=\"https:\/\/us.edu.pl\/en\/w-wnst\">Faculty of Science and Technology<\/a> of the University of Silesia.
