At the invitation of Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences \u2013 branch in Katowice, Prof. Krzysztof Jarosz from the Institute of Literary Studies at the University of Silesia will give a lecture dedicated to the works by Ananda Devi \u2013 honorary doctor<\/em>\u00a0of the University of Silesia.<\/p>\n

The online meetiing is planned for Tuesday, 9 March 2021, at 5 p.m. The lecture \u201cBetween East and West. An Introduction to the Aesthetics of Ananda Devi\u201d will be held on MS Teams platform:\u00a0https:\/\/teams.microsoft.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Prof. Krzysztof Jarosz<\/a>\u00a0is a romanist associated with the Institute of Literary Studies at the University of Silesia. His research interest focuses on the 20th century French novel, modern literature from Quebec and Mauritius as well as literary translation. He is the author of 3 books, editor and co-editor of several monographs, originator and editor-in-chief of two scientific journals: \u201eRomanica Silesiana\u201d (2006\u20132017) and \u201eTransCanadiana\u201d (2007\u20132013) as well as the author of over 70 scientific articles published in Poland and abroad.<\/p>\n

He is currently working on a critical edition of works by Ananda Devi. The first book in the series entitled \u201cThe Green Sari\u201d was released in 2018, the critical edition of \u201cEve Out of Her Ruins\u201d was published at the end of 2019, whereas the translation of \u201cThe Sad Ambassador\u201d, a collection of short stories, came out in March 2020.\u00a0 Professor\u2019s future plans include the publication of series \u201eFrancofonia literaria\u201d dedicated to francophone literature and monograph about the contemporary female novelists in Mauritius (Ananda Devi, Marie-Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Humbert, Shenaz Patel, Nathacha Appanah, Lindsey Collen and Lilian Berthelot).<\/p>\n
