As part of the “University and War” series of debates organised by the Areopagus of Universities, the second meeting entitled ‘Right to Violence? Legal Aspects of War\u2019 took place on 15 December. The main topic was Russia’s aggression against Ukraine with all its consequences for Poland and the world, including legal, social and economic ones.<\/p>\n

The event featured representatives of the biggest Polish universities. The University of Silesia in Katowice was represented by Prof. Ryszard Kozio\u0142ek, the Rector of the University of Silesia, and Agnieszka Turksa-Kawa, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof. from the Faculty of Social Sciences.<\/p>\n

The main idea of the Areopagus of Universities, under the patronage of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland, is to conduct a public political debate on the contemporary challenges in academic space. It is a joint initiative of academic communities of four universities: John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, University of Warsaw, Jagiellonian University, and Adam Mickiewicz University in Pozna\u0144. The December debate is the first, in which the community of the University of Silesia was invited to participate.<\/p>\n

The event took place in the Collegium Novum lecture hall at Jagiellonian University in Krakow.<\/p>\n

The broadcast from the meeting is available on the\u00a0website<\/a>\u00a0and YouTube Channel<\/a>\u00a0of Jagiellonian University.<\/p>\n
