He is experienced in terms of strategies for the development of <em>arts&amp;science<\/em> projects, science communication, and social programmes implemented in the context of German universities. Originally, he studied music in Australia and the USA and pursued an international concert career as a pianist and electronic musician working with some of the most notable composers of the late 20th century, including Karlheinz Stockhausen, Steve Reich and Milton Babbitt. He has won acclaim from critics, including those writing for <em>The New York Times<\/em>, <em>Atlanta Constitution-Journal<\/em>, <em>Birmingham News<\/em>, and <em>Sydney Morning Herald<\/em>.\u00a0 He has published on topics including the semiotics of Japanese garden design, concepts of sound and listening in architecture and landscape architecture. He is primarily interested in the examination, analysis, composition and design of exemplary sound-space. He utilised techniques from mathematics and AI to represent indeterminate musical spaces in the scores by John Cage. His artistic practice has also included the presentation and design of site-specific immersive sound installations that have been staged in Australia, China and Japan. He contributed greatly to the establishment and development of the Science Gallery Berlin at Technische Universit\u00e4t Berlin. He is a graduate of the Australian Research Council and an alumnus of the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung research fellowship programme.<\/p>\n<p>\n<\/div>\r\n                    <\/div>\r\n                <\/div>\r\n                <div class=\"text-modules\">\r\n                    <div class=\"container\">\r\n                        \r\n                        <div class=\"text-modules__content\"><\/p>\n<h3>Meetings schedule<\/h3>\n<p>Between 29 June and 10 July 2023, Michael Fowler, PhD, will be taking part in research, close consultations and seminars for employees and PhD students of the USil Institute of Culture Studies and the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology. He will also take part in closed consultations, workshops and seminars for students of cultural studies, media culture and architecture.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, 30 June 2023, at 3.15 p.m., M. Fowler, PhD, will deliver an open lecture dedicated to strategies of soundscape design. Another open lecture is scheduled on 4 July at 12 p.m. devoted to the relations between 20th-century Western music and Japanese aesthetics. The lectures take place in A. Pawlikowski Lecture Hall at the USil Faculty of Humanities.<\/p>\n<p>In order to join the meeting, you have to fill out <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/9WxzpRG468tzXnLr7\">the registration form<\/a>.
