The screening of the film Monster<\/em> (128 min.) takes place on Tuesday, 21 May, at 5 p.m. in the \u015awiatowid studio cinema (ul. 3 Maja 7, Katowice). The event is organised as part of the \u2018Film Meetings with Psychology\u2019 series.<\/p>\n Monster<\/em> is a Japanese drama awarded at the 76th Cannes Film Festival with the Award for Best Screenplay and Queer Palm, the Festival\u2019s independent prize. The story is set at a school in a small provincial town in Japan. The story unfolds through the eyes of a mother, teacher and child. \u2018The story portrays an incident involving children at a small school in a small regional city in Japan and the small sparks of fire that create a huge rift and divide among the people who live there,\u2019 wrote Kore-eda Hirokazu, the film\u2019s director. \u2018It was before the world was turned upside down by the COVID pandemic, but I\u2019m surprised that the story turned out to reflect the rift we now see between people, countries and ethnic groups around the world.\u2019<\/p>\n
