The guest lectures will be hosted by Filip Taterka, PhD from the Polish Academy of Sciences.<\/p>\n<p>Schedule<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>16 April at 3.30 p.m. \u2013 Antonio Loprieno (University of Basel): Egyptology and Methodological \u2018Turns\u2019: Just Fashionable or Also Necessary?<\/li>\n<li>23 April at 3.30 p.m. \u2013 Aleksandra Kl\u0119czar (Jagiellonian University): Fifty Shades of Achilles: A Study in Methods and Approaches to Classical Reception in Modern Culture(s)<\/li>\n<li>7 May at 3.30 p.m. \u2013 Richard Parkinson (University of Oxford): Re-reading the Tale of Sinuhe: Ancient Poetry and Modern Commentary<\/li>\n<li>21 May at 3.30 p.m. \u2013 Lechos\u0142aw Olszewski (independent scholar): Roman Honorific Statues: Works of Art or Just Things?<\/li>\n<li>28 May at 3.30 p.m. \u2013 Hugo M\u00e9ndez (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill): Approaching Early Christian Works: The Gospel and Epistles of John as a Case Study<\/li>\n<li>4 June at 3.30 p.m. \u2013 Tim Brookes (independent scholar): The Endangered Alphabets Project: Writing Beyond Writing<\/li>\n<li>11 June at 3.30 p.m. \u2013 Janusz Karkowski (Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures of the Polish Academy of Sciences): Leaving No Trace Uninterpreted: Some Thoughts on Egyptian Epigraphy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Meeting organiser and host: Filip Taterka, PhD \u2013 an Egyptologist, specialist in the hieroglyphic writing system, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures of the Polish Academy of Sciences, graduate of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Pozna\u0144, author of multiple scientific publications, and translator of Egyptian literature. His research interests revolve around the Egyptian ideology of royal power (especially during the reign of Hatshepsut), the expeditions to Punta, the writings of the country of the pharaohs, and the presence of Egypt in popular culture. For several years, he has also been teaching an open seminar on the methodology of antiquities research according to an original idea.
