Project objective:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Design an innovative curriculum for the profession of \u201cRoots Tourism Expert\u201d, in collaboration with key stakeholders.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Enhance the knowledge, skills and competencies of VET teachers and students in roots tourism, thus facilitating their transition to the labor market and supporting sustainable.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Empower VET centres and schools to offer courses that develop relevant skills tailored to the roots tourism\u2019s sector.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Create new occupational opportunities that contribute to the economic and sustainable development of rural, remote, and underexploited areas.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Adapt the competencies and skills of the touristic field to the roots tourism, to discover a new niche market.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Support the economic and sustainable development of less exploited areas and destinations.<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Provides economic opportunities for communities in rural, remote, and depopulated regions that may face socioeconomic.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Planned outcomes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. A comprehensive curriculum for \u201cRoots Tourism Operators\u201d, detailing the skills and competencies required to meet the sector\u2019s.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. A suite of training materials and online modules for VET schools, promoting sustainable tourism practices and local heritage.<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. It will include also a booklet on \u201cRoots tourism and European schools\u201d to explain what roots tourism is, why include in the touristic school curricula, its benefit and it potential in terms of occupation, existing best practices from all over Europe.<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Sustainable Roots Tourism Action Plans, developed in partnership with schools, local authorities and associations, to outline specific strategies and initiatives to promote sustainable tourism with measures like promoting responsible travel practices, supporting local businesses and artisans, implementing eco-friendly initiatives, and engaging local communities in tourism development.<\/span><\/li>\n
    5. Project\u2019s results will also include a training programme for the partners to create a common knowledge on roots tourism to be deployed during the entire project.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Second Online Meeting of the International ERASMUS+ \u201cRoots Tourism\u201d Project<\/span><\/h3>\n

        The international ERASMUS+ \u201cRoots Tourism\u201d project, coordinated by Dr Natalia Tomczewska-Popowycz from the Institute of Socio-Economic Geography and Spatial Management, Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Silesia, continues its project activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

        On 18 February 2026, the second online meeting of the project partners took place. During the meeting, the partners discussed the scope of preparations for the training planned in Hungary, including both organisational and substantive aspects of its implementation.<\/span><\/p>\n

        A key part of the meeting was dedicated to presentations on tourism-related vocational education and training (VET) systems in the partner countries. Each partner presented the structure of national tourism VET training, followed by a discussion on similarities and differences between the systems and on how the planned Roots Tourism curriculum could be integrated into the existing VET infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>\n

        The meeting marked an important step towards developing a shared training framework adapted to the educational systems of the partner countries.<\/span><\/p>\n
