On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the founding of the University of Silesia, on Friday, 16 June 2023, \u2018The World of Kilar \u2013 inspirations, sources\u2019 academic concert was held. The event took place in the concert hall of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.<\/strong><\/p>\n During the concert, new interpretations of the composer’s works were presented, as well as contemporary pieces bordering on classical music and jazz inspired by his pieces. The performers were artists from the Institute of Music of the University of Silesia in Katowice and invited guests. References to the sources were illustrated by the performance of a student band presenting Carpathian musical folklore. The authors of the visualisation were students from the Institute of Fine Arts of the University of Silesia.<\/p>\n The \u2018Pro Scientia et Arte\u2019 awards were given to: Prof. Jaros\u0142aw Pola\u0144ski in the exact and natural sciences category and Prof. Jerzy \u0141ukaszewicz in the humanities, social sciences, theological sciences and art category. In addition, Prof. Jerzy \u0141ukaszewicz gave a lecture \u201cKilka uwag w kwestii prawdy artystycznej\u201d [A few remarks on the artistic truth].<\/p>\n The official part of the concert was led by: Lidia Le Thanh, student of the Krzysztof Kie\u015blowski Film School at the University of Silesia and Jakub Kraus, student of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Silesia.
