Artificial Intelligence Week is now over. It was the fifth of 50 Weeks in the City of Science<\/a> organised as part of the celebration of the European City of Science Katowice 2024! On this occasion, the University of Economics in Katowice has prepared a number of attractions for people of all ages. Those interested could take part in workshops, shows and lectures. At the end of the week, Kato Science Corner hosted a panel discussion with the participation of distinguished guests, devoted to the role of women in the development of artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

The event took place from 29 January to 4 February 2024. The curator was Jan Kozak, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof.<\/strong> The beginning of the Artificial Intelligence Week took place in the CNTI Lecture Hall, where Barbara Probierz, PhD (also from the University of Economics) officially opened the celebrations and conducted knowledge competitions for the event participants. Then there were computer workshops and a lecture on mobile apps.<\/p>\n

The second day included lectures and workshops at the EMAG Institute of Innovative Technologies, covering robotics and technology. Guests could see exhibits and listen to lectures on cybersecurity.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, a seminar was held on the role of artificial intelligence in society. In the evening, the event \u2018Connecting Worlds: Artificial Intelligence in the Service of Communication for the Deaf\u2019, translated into Polish Sign Language.<\/p>\n

The next day, Jan Kozak, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof.<\/strong> conducted workshops and lectures \u2018Programming of the future: Artificial intelligence in the world of new technologies\u2019 at the C.K. Norwid 3rd Secondary School in B\u0119dzin. In the afternoon, a debate \u2018Will AI replace humans?\u2019 took place at Kato Science Corner, the participants of which were:\u00a0Prof. Jerzy Stefanowski<\/strong>\u00a0(Poznan University of Technology),\u00a0Agnieszka Sko\u0142ucka, PhD i\u00a0Dariusz Szostek, PhD, DLitt, Assoc. Prof.\u00a0<\/strong>(University of Silesia), Jan Kozak, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof.\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Artur Koz\u0142owski, PhD<\/strong>\u00a0(Director of EMAG-\u0141ukasiewicz). On that day, there were also activities as part of the open days of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice.<\/p>\n

On Friday, lectures and workshops for children and youth were held on the campus of the University of Economics in Katowice entitled: \u2018Programming of the future: Artificial intelligence in the world of new technologies\u2019. The activities were hosted by Jan Kozak, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof.<\/strong> At the same time, many interesting activities took place during the open days of the Silesian University of Technology in Rybnik.<\/p>\n

On a weekend afternoon at the Fizjolandia Rehabilitation Centre in Sosnowiec, Jan Kozak, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof.<\/strong> conducted workshops and lectures \u2018AI: How does artificial intelligence help us all move and learn?\u2019 for disabled children and young people and their guardians.<\/p>\n

At the end of the Artificial Intelligence Week, a panel discussion was held at Kato Science Corner with the participation of distinguished guests, devoted to the role of women in the development of Artificial Intelligence. Participants of the discussion were:<\/p>\n
