The greatest challenges connected with initiating international cooperation in Europe arise from the fact that we have different languages and cultures, as well as different styles of work. Together with six other universities, we have created the European University Transform4Europe, to learn more about each other. Our cooperation includes a joint creation of over 100. 000 students and almost 20. 000 employees<\/p>\n

Apart from our scientific and didactic aims, we also share a number of civilization challenges. None of us expected that such terrible conflict would occur close to our border. Now we need to show the unity of Europe even more. Our reaction to this event was immediate, and what is worth mentioning jointly and severally. At the moment, discussions concerning supporting Ukrainian universities by making them partners of T4EU alliance and other alliances are taking place. In my opinion, it is one of the examples of European values, showing the T4EU identity.<\/p>\n

Working in the Transform4Europe project is a big challenge mainly due to the realization of tasks not only in the multidimensional University reality but also in the international and culturally diverse environment.<\/p>\n

Since the project has many aspects, thanks to teamwork, the experts\u2019 support and the commitment of academics and non-academic employees of the University are crucial to realize particular tasks and reach the milestones defined in the project.<\/p>\n

Overcoming communication and organizational difficulties are rewarded by the satisfaction we have from being a part of this ambitious and, still rather pioneering undertaking, the effects of which shall bring many profits to the academic community \u2013 in terms of knowledge and skills, as well as experiences.<\/p>\n

The possibilities provided by our cooperation in the Transform4Europe project are already significant. They include not only establishing new contacts but also exchange of knowledge and experiences. Getting back to travelling, stopped by the Coronavirus pandemic, finally allows us to meet each other in person, and the initiatives, planned as a part of the Alliance will include a growing number of people.<\/p>\n

For example, in May 2022, as a part of the Transform4Europe Week, students, doctoral students and employees of the seven universities of the Alliance could meet in Katowice. It was a chance to initiate research cooperation, extend joint didactic activities and create a network of European contacts. In the coming years, such an event will be organized at all of the seven universities, which means that the scale of experiences and knowledge will grow.
\nI am looking forward to starting the next joint initiatives. I am grateful that, as a doctoral student, I can be a part of this project.<\/p>\n

Emilie Szwajnoch<\/strong> Szwajnoch \u2013 a PhD student in political science and public administration of the Doctoral School at the University of Silesia in Katowice. Her research interests lie in the domestic politics of China, in particular, the security policy. She is a member of the University Council of the PhD Student Government at the University of Silesia. She was a Vice-Chair of the Transform4Europe Student Council.<\/p>\n
