The Council term lasts 4 years and\u00a0begins on 1 January 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The Council consists of three academic community members and three non-academic community members.\u00a0 The seventh member of the University Council is Ma\u0142gorzata Poszwa, Chair of the Student Government at the University of Silesia.<\/p>\n<h3>Candidates<\/h3>\n<p>As of 11 December, seven requests to stand as candidates for the University Council members in 2021-2024 have been submitted.<\/p>\n<p>Non-academic candidates to the University Council include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mrs El\u017cbieta Bie\u0144kowska \u2013 former European Commissioner for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs,<\/li>\n<li>Olga Grygier-Siddons \u2013 former President of the Management Board PricewaterhouseCoopers Polish and former President of the Management Board PwC in Europe \u015arodkowo-Eastern (CEE),<\/li>\n<li>Mr Piotr Uszok \u2013 Chair of the first University Council, former President of Katowice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Candidates representing the academic community include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>prof. Adam Dziadek \u2013 Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; member of the first University Council,<\/li>\n<li>assoc. Prof. Krystyna Doktorowicz, Professor of the University of Silesia &#8211; Dean of the Krzysztof Kie\u015blowski Film School;<\/li>\n<li>prof. Marian Paluch \u2013 Director of the Silesian Centre for Education and Interdisciplinary Research in Katowice; member of the first University Council,<\/li>\n<li>prof. Zofia Piotrowska-Seget from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, former Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All applications comply with the formal requirements.<\/p>\n<p><em>Building of the Rectorate of the University of Silesia.
