In this year\u2019s edition of the Zygmunt Gloger Prize, Dionizjusz Czubala, PhD, DLitt, ethnographer and folklorist, an employee of the Faculty of Philology (former Faculty of Humanities) in 1975-2002 received the 1st class Zygmunt Gloger Prize and Zygmunt Gloger Medal for initiating and conducting unique folklore research, especially in the field of Polish urban legends.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Prof. Ryszard Kaczmarek from the Institute of History received the 2nd class Zygmunt Gloger Prize and Zygmunt Gloger Medal for his notable research, editorial, and organisational achievements in the field of the history of Silesia and Germany.<\/p>\n

The Zygmunt Gloger Prize was established in 1983. It is awarded annually to creators, scientists, researchers, and traditional culture animators for their outstanding achievements in researching, protecting, and developing Polish culture. The competition is organised by: The \u201cStopka\u201d Social Press Studies Association in \u0141om\u017ca, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland, the National Centre for Culture Poland, the Podlaskie Voivodeship Marshal\u2019s Office, and the Municipal Office in \u0141om\u017ca.<\/p>\n

The competition jury featured Prof. Dariusz Rott from the Institute of Literary Studies of the University of Silesia.<\/p>\n

This year, three main prizes and three distinctions were awarded. The gala will take place on 24 September 2021 in \u0141om\u017ca.<\/p>\n
