The film “Mother’s Day” (Polish title: \u201cDzie\u0144 Matki\u201d) directed by Patryk Kaflowski, produced at the Krzysztof Kie\u015blowski Film School at the University of Silesia in Katowice, is on the so-called long, preliminary Oscar list of short stories. The fifteen movies that will appear on the shortlist of candidates for the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards will be announced on 21 December, 2021. This is not the first time when the production of the Krzysztof Kie\u015blowski Film School competes for an Oscar.<\/span><\/p>\n

Patryk Kaflowski’s film tells the story of a young, pregnant woman who has to deal with complications during childbirth. A witness of her struggles is a female fox wandering around the area looking for food.<\/span><\/p>\n

The DOP for the film is Patryk Roman. The editors are Micha\u0142 Walter and Patryk Kaflowski. Krzysztof Lang was responsible for pedagogical supervision over the production. The producer of the film is Krystyna Doktorowicz, PhD, DLitt, Associate Professor, Dean of the Krzysztof Kie\u015blowski Film School at the University of Silesia.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Mother’s Day” had its world premiere during the 40th edition of “The Youth and Film” \u2013 The Festival of Film Debuts in Koszalin. The film also won the International Competition at the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival in India, simultaneously receiving an Oscar qualification. Currently, the film is presented at the prestigious Raindance Film Festival \u2013 the largest independent film festival in Great Britain.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 94th Gala of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards is scheduled for 27 March, 2022. The list of the nominees will be announced on 8 February.<\/span><\/p>\n
