As part of the celebrations surrounding the\u00a0<\/span>European City of Science 2022<\/span><\/a>, which is Leiden, the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) 2022 science conference will be held in this Dutch city from 13 to 16 July 2022. At the same time, in Katowice \u2013 a city preparing to accept the title of\u00a0<\/span>European City of Science 2024<\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u2013 the accompanying ESOF2022 Regional Site conference is scheduled to take place on 15 July 2022. The meeting entitled \u201cBright Side of the Dark Universe\u201d will take place on 15 July 2022 from 3.45 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Ballroom A+B at the International Congress Centre in Katowice.<\/span><\/p>\n Cosmology is one of the scientific fields that have rapidly evolved during the last decades. Our understanding of the properties of our Universe is ever-growing, however, big mysteries remain unknown. According to the best models we have today, we live in the Universe, which in 95% is made of things whose nature remains a mystery \u2013 namely, dark matter and dark energy. What are they? What is their origin? How can they be traced based on observations we have today? In the nearest decade, we expect the amount of available astronomical data to increase enormously, thanks to new big observational projects, which may bring us some answers but most likely also add new riddles to solve.<\/span><\/p>\n In this session, the speakers will discuss why it is important to study the Universe, what are its hidden ingredients, and how future progress might suffer from the development of the satellite constellations.<\/span><\/p>\n The meeting will be attended by:<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n More information can be found on the\u00a0<\/span>event website<\/span><\/a>.
