Renata Jankowska, PhD, Associate Professor from the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Silesia was honoured with the Order of Academic Palms.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The insignia award ceremony was held at the Embassy of the French Republic in Warsaw on Friday, 23 September 2022. The award was presented by the French ambassador to Poland, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Billet. In his speech, the diplomat emphasised the contribution of Prof. Renata Jankowska to the development of French-Polish relations in the academic field and her involvement in the Campus France network.<\/p>\n

The Order of Academic Palms (L’Ordre des Palmes Acad\u00e9miques) is, next to the Legion of Honour and the National Order of Merit, the highest French decoration. It was established by Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte in 1808 to honour eminent professors of the University of Paris. Academic Palms are awarded in the rank of Knight, Officer or Commander for contribution to the promotion of the French language and culture and commitment to the development of French-Polish academic cooperation.<\/p>\n

Prof. Renata Jankowska has been involved in the Campus France network since 2012. She is the coordinator of the Academy of Diplomacy of the Open University at the University of Silesia and the Degree Programme Director of: International Studies in Political Science and Diplomacy as well as Public and Political Counselling at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Silesia.<\/p>\n

In 2020, Prof. Krzysztof Jarosz<\/a> from the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Silesia was also appointed a Knight of the Order of Academic Palms. He was honoured for his contribution to the development of French-Polish cooperation in the field of academic education, including teaching French and Franconian literature.<\/p>\n
