On Monday, 26 September 2022, the rectorate of the University of Silesia in Katowice hosted the participants of the international project \u201cGame Lab \u2013 International Laboratory for Game Studies and Design”, led by the University of Silesia (Faculty of Arts and Educational Science in Cieszyn). The meeting with the University authorities was attended by university lecturers and students from LUCA School of Arts (Belgium), Tokyo University of Technology, School of Media Science (Japan), Benem\u00e9rita Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Puebla (Mexico), School of Art at Northern Illinois University (USA), and the Game Lab Design Centre in Cieszyn.<\/p>\n

The guests were greeted by the Rector of the University of Silesia, Prof. Ryszard Kozio\u0142ek. The vital role of the project in the internationalisation of the University was emphasised by the Vice-Rector for International and Domestic Cooperation, Tomasz Pietrzykowski, PhD, DLitt, Associate Professor in his speech. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Ma\u0142gorzata \u0141uszczak, the Director of the Game Lab Design Centre.<\/p>\n

Then the guests visited the Katowice campus of the University of Silesia \u2013 they were shown around the Scientific Information Centre and Academic Library, as well as the Krzysztof Kie\u015blowski Film School, where they were welcomed by the Deputy Dean of the Faculty Adrian Robak, PhD, Associate Professor.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon, the participants first travelled to Ostrava, where they took part in further activities at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Ostrava. Then, at the Faculty of Arts and Educational Science of the University of Silesia in Cieszyn, they could see an exhibition of works by students of Games and Virtual Reality Design.<\/p>\n

The guests’ visit to the University of Silesia was the culmination of activities under the Game Lab project, financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.<\/p>\n
