The University of Silesia in Katowice has been among the top non-technical universities in Poland for many years in terms of the number of patent applications and industrial property rights granted.<\/p>\n
Reporting industrial property items<\/strong><\/h3>\nIn 2023, 38 items of industrial property were reported, the creators or co-creators of which are people associated with our University, including 36 to the Polish Patent Office, one to the Czech Industrial Property Office and one to the European Union Office for Intellectual Property. The applications covered: one trademark: \u2018TAKE US\u2019, one industrial design and 36 inventions.<\/p>\n
In the case of 19 reported inventions, the University of Silesia has exclusive rights; in the case of 16 our, University shares rights with other universities and institutes (with the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, the Silesian University of Technology and the University of Ostrava), while in relation to one invention, the University of Silesia and Medicus sp. z o.o. are co-owners.<\/p>\n
10 reported inventions were developed by scientists from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Silesia, while 26 by scientists from the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Silesia.<\/p>\n
Rights granted<\/strong><\/h3>\nIn 2023, 29 exclusive rights were granted for industrial property items, the authors of which are people associated with the University of Silesia. These rights were granted in most cases by the Polish Patent Office, one by the Czech Industrial Property Office, one by the European Union Intellectual Property Office and one by the European Patent Office. Protective rights include: two trademarks \u2013 the University of Silesia in Katowice (logo) and the \u2018TAKE US\u2019 mark, two industrial designs and 25 patents for inventions.<\/p>\n
In the case of 16 inventions, the exclusive ownership belongs to the University of Silesia, 8 our university shares with other entities (with the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, the Silesian University of Technology, the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice, the Adam Mickiewicz University in Pozna\u0144, the Charles University in Prague) and shares one invention with an entrepreneur \u2013 Bring it to Europe Adam \u015awierczy\u0144ski.<\/p>\n
The authors or co-authors of 24 patented inventions are researchers from the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Silesia, while the authors of one invention are representatives of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Silesia.<\/p>\n
Employees of the Office of Patent Attorneys of the University of Silesia provide assistance and advice in all matters related to the protection of intellectual property, in particular in relation to applications at patent offices, as well as regarding contracts containing provisions concerning intellectual property matters.<\/p>\n
