{"id":229453,"date":"2025-05-15T13:39:51","date_gmt":"2025-05-15T11:39:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/us.edu.pl\/?p=229453"},"modified":"2025-07-08T11:20:50","modified_gmt":"2025-07-08T09:20:50","slug":"nadchodzi-xxxi-kongres-fide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/us.edu.pl\/en\/nadchodzi-xxxi-kongres-fide\/","title":{"rendered":"The 31st FIDE Congress is just around the corner!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;]\r\n                <div class=\"text-modules\">\r\n                    <div class=\"container\">\r\n                        \r\n                        <div class=\"text-modules__content\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>The most important event in the field of European Union law is fast approaching \u2013 the 31st Congress of the International Federation for European Law (FIDE), which is organised every two years, will be held in Poland for the first time!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Join us on <strong>28\u201331 May<\/strong> \u2013 on the first day at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Silesia in Katowice, and then at the International Congress Centre in Katowice, where representatives of academia and legal practice, judges of the Court of Justice of the European Union and representatives of other EU institutions will discuss European Union law.<\/p>\n<p>The Congress programme covers three main themes of this year&#8217;s edition:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>EU emergency law,<\/li>\n<li>EU digital economy: general framework (DSA\/DMA) and specialised regimes,<\/li>\n<li>Energy solidarity and security \u2013 from green transition to EU crisis management.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>FIDE speakers include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Anne Applebaum<\/strong> \u2013 Pulitzer Prize winner, historian, and journalist;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Claire Bazy Malaurie<\/strong> \u2013 President of the Venice Commission;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Adam Bodnar<\/strong> \u2013 Polish Minister of Justice;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stephan Harbarth<\/strong> \u2013 President of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Koen Lenaerts<\/strong> \u2013 President of the Court of Justice of the European Union;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Michael McGrath<\/strong> \u2013 EU Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sacha Prechal<\/strong> \u2013 former Judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Marek Safjan<\/strong> \u2013 former Judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union, Chairman of the Private Law Codification Commission;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Silvana Sciarra<\/strong> \u2013 former President of the Italian Constitutional Court;<\/li>\n<li>Eleanor Sharpston KC \u2013 former Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the European Union;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Adam Sz\u0142apka<\/strong> \u2013 Minister for European Affairs of the Republic of Poland;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Takis Tridimas<\/strong> \u2013 Director of the , Professor at the University of Luxembourg;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Joseph H.H. Weiler<\/strong> \u2013 Professor of European law, New York University;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Marc van der Woude<\/strong> \u2013 President of the Court of Justice of the European Union.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Young FIDE Seminar \u2013 the voice of young researchers<\/h3>\n<p>The FIDE Congress will also feature Young FIDE, a seminar aimed at young lawyers and researchers of European law, giving them the opportunity to present their work and discuss it with distinguished professors of EU law. Young FIDE will take place just before the start of the main FIDE Congress \u2013 on 28 May at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Silesia in Katowice.<\/p>\n<p>The Young FIDE programme includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>inaugural lecture: \u2018Young Wolves Should Be Eager To Make Their Mark: Some Ideas and Suggestions from an Older Wolf\u2019 \u2013 Eleanor Sharpston KC,<\/li>\n<li>thematic workshops and discussion panels,<\/li>\n<li>the opportunity to network with experts and academics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Register for the FIDE Congress<\/h3>\n<p>To participate in the FIDE Congress, you must register using the form and pay the fee.<\/p>\n<p>The full programme of the event and detailed information on registration and accommodation are available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fide-europe.org\/congresses\/next-congress\/\">31st FIDE Congress Katowice 2025 website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>This year&#8217;s FIDE Congress is organised by the Polish Association of European Law (PSPE), the University of Silesia in Katowice and the <a href=\"https:\/\/us.edu.pl\/Sidb\/en\/mlode-talenty-2\/\">City of Katowice<\/a>.
