In the latest edition of The Nature Index 2025 Research Leaders ranking (formerly Nature Index Annual Tables), the University of Silesia in Katowice has once again took the top spot among Silesian universities! In the general classification of Polish universities, we were ranked in a high 6th place. Reseracherts from the University of Silesia will soon be conducting research in new modern scientific units \u2013 the Silesian Interdisciplinary Centre for Chemistry and the Centre for Biotechnology and Biodiversity.<\/strong><\/p>\n Our results in chemical sciences deserve special attention. Nationally, we were ranked 4th in this category \u2013 the highest in the region. This great news comes a few weeks after the construction of the Silesian Interdisciplinary Centre for Chemistry<\/a> began. The Centre will enable USil scientist to conduct chemistry research in line with the latest trends.<\/p>\n We can also boast first place in the Silesian Voivodeship in physical sciences and earth sciences. In both cases we saw an improvement compared to last year in terms of the national classification.<\/p>\n In the ranking of journal groups, we were ranked high among Polish universities \u2013 both in the Nature & Science category (4th place) and in the Natural Sciences category (6th place). In both categories we took 1st place in the Silesian Voivodeship. Once again, biological sciences were also included in the overall classification. In order to ensure even greater competitiveness of our university\u2019s research and teaching in this field, the construction of the Centre for Biotechnology and Biodiversity<\/a> is planned.<\/p>\n Nature Index is an open database of author affiliations and institutional relationships that continuously monitors scientific articles in the areas of exact, natural and health sciences published in prestigious journals selected by an independent group of researchers.<\/p>\n The Nature Index 2025 Research Leaders list covers the period from 1 January to 31 December 2024.
