Agata Cowan-Stronciwilk, PhD from the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Silesia in Katowice has been awarded within the POLONISTA programme of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.<\/p>\n

From 1 March to 31 May 2026, she will be carrying out a research and teaching project at the Universidade Federal do Paran\u00e1 in Curitiba, Brazil, entitled \u2018Artists of Polish-Jewish Origin in Brazil\u2019, which focuses on the work of three figures: Frans Krajcberg, Fayga Ostrower, and Stefania Bril (Brill). An important element of the project will be conducting classes on Polish art for the community of the Universidade Federal do Paran\u00e1.<\/p>\n

Krajcberg, Ostrower, Bril\u2014seemingly they do not have much in common; they used different media in their works (Krajcberg \u2013 sculpture and photography, Ostrower \u2013 graphics, Bril \u2013 photography) and tackled different themes. However, they are united by their common Polish-Jewish origins, the experience of emigration, and the search for roots in the new homeland that Brazil has become for them. As part of the project, the researcher from the University of Silesia intends to examine their work and biographies, but also ask questions about their contacts and relations with Poland.<\/p>\n
