Prof. Ryszard Kozio\u0142ek, the Rector of the University of Silesia, has been honoured with the Gold Medal of Merit for Polish Science Zas\u0142u\u017cony dla Nauki Polskiej Sapientia et Veritas<\/em>. This is one of the highest decorations awarded in the academic community, honouring individuals who\u2014through their scientific\u2014teaching and organisational activities, make a special contribution to the development of higher education, the dissemination of knowledge and the reinforcement of the values of truth and wisdom in public life.<\/p>\n Altogether 5 rectors and the Marcin Krupa, PhD, the Mayor of Katowice, were decorated during the Interuniversity Inauguration of the Academic Year 2025\/2026. The award recognises each laureate\u2019s personal achievements and commitment to the development of the City of Science, and symbolically highlights the role played by universities in the development of a knowledge society.<\/p>\n Our sincere congratulations to the Rector and to all the award winners.
