The visual wayfinding system implemented at the Cieszyn campus of the University of Silesia in Katowice<\/span><\/span> has received recognition in the international IIID Award 2026<\/span><\/span> competition, organised by the International Institute for Information Design<\/span><\/span>. The project, designed by Blank Studio<\/span><\/span>, received an Honourable Mention in the Wayfinding category.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The award-winning system was developed in response to a practical need: improving navigation across the university\u2019s multi-building campus, which accommodates a variety of functions. Its purpose is to make everyday navigation easier for students, staff, guests, and visitors to the University of Silesia\u2019s Cieszyn campus.<\/p>\n

The project includes outdoor and indoor signage, campus maps, room numbering, and a comprehensive set of pictograms. The entire system was designed to remain consistent with the visual identity of the University of Silesia while ensuring clarity, functionality, and intuitive spatial communication.<\/p>\n

The wayfinding system implemented in Cieszyn demonstrates the important role that well-designed solutions play in enhancing the quality of academic spaces. Combining functionality, clarity, and visual consistency with the university\u2019s identity, the project now serves as an important reference point for the continued development of signage systems across other University of Silesia buildings. These improvements are being introduced in stages, with the shared goal of creating a more coherent spatial communication system while improving accessibility and the overall user experience across the university.<\/p>\n
