Dear All,<\/p>\n

From the very first days of Russia\u2019s aggression against Ukraine, the University of Silesia, like many other Polish universities, has taken in refugees \u2013 including students \u2013 whom the war has driven from their homes, and has organised aid for those who have remained in Ukraine. Nothing has changed in this regard, nor will it. As long as this war continues, you can count on us.<\/p>\n

However, a new threat has emerged. The irresponsible words and actions of your and our politicians are resulting in acts of hostility, and even hatred, which are also affecting you. These attitudes are reprehensible and a source of shame for all those who, by helping you, have demonstrated their commitment to the time-honoured Polish virtue of hospitality and the more recent virtue of solidarity with the oppressed.<\/p>\n

On my own behalf and on behalf of our university community, I offer my deepest sympathy and compassion for your losses and the suffering caused by the war. I assure you that the University of Silesia will remain a welcoming and safe place for you.<\/p>\n
