On 8 September 2026, the 3rd Scientific Conference of the World\u2019s Top Scientists \u2013 TOP 2% \u2013 took place at the headquarters of the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. Fifty-nine researchers from 15 universities and institutes in Katowice and Silesia, who rank amongst the top 2% of the world\u2019s most frequently cited researchers, registered for the conference. Not in Poland, not in Europe, but worldwide. The initiator and chair of the organising committee for this conference is Grzegorz Wojnar, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof. from the Silesian University of Technology. The conference was held under the honorary patronage of: Prof. Eng. Markek Pawe\u0142czyk, Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Corresponding Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), Marcin Krupa, PhD, President of Katowice, and the Katowice Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), chaired by Prof. Andrzej Wi\u0119cek, MD, PhD, holder of an honorary doctorate degree.<\/p>\n
The University of Silesia was represented by researchers from the Faculty of Science and Technology: Prof. Micha\u0142 Baczy\u0144ski from the Institute of Mathematics and the Institute of Computer Science, and from the Institute of Chemistry:\u00a0 Prof. Marzena Dzida, Prof. Monika Musia\u0142, Tomasz Siudyga, PhD, Assoc. Prof. standing in for Prof. Jaros\u0142aw Pola\u0144ski, and Prof. Grzegorz Zadora.<\/p>\n
During the conference, Prof. Marzena Dzida delivered a paper entitled: \u2018The role of acoustic, thermodynamic and thermal research in describing the functional properties of condensed phases\u2019.<\/p>\n
The TOP 2% ranking is compiled on the basis of established publication citation metrics in two categories: for the previous year and for the entire duration of a researcher\u2019s career. This research was initiated in 2019 following an article in the journal PLOS Biology by authors from Stanford University, Elsevier and SciTech Strategies.
