Animal Protection in Polish Law<\/h3>\n

Our perception of animals is changing more and more. Playful bees, inquisitive octopuses, self-healing orangutans, and grieving elephants show us that our evolutionary cousins experience the world in various ways and are far more complex than mere flesh driven by instincts alone. How does Polish and international law respond to the latest scientific discoveries? Is it keeping up?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The reason for this conversation is Animal Rights Day, celebrated on 22 May. Ma\u0142gorzata Lubelska-Sazan\u00f3w, PhD from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Silesia talks about how animals are treated under Polish law. She worked on a project called \u201cThe Future of Animal Breeding \u2013 Legal, Ethical and Environmental Aspects\u201d as part of the third edition of the \u201cFreedom of Research\u201d competition run by the Research Excellence Initiative.
