The lecture will remind how the corresponding<br \/>\nspectra can be obtained and analysed, what are their limitations in probing different<br \/>\nvibration modes, in which situations these methods may provide combined or complementary<br \/>\nresults. Theory approaches to describe infrared and Raman spectra will be considered,<br \/>\nand selection rules based on the group theory will be explained.
