Streszczenie:<\/p>\n

Infrared and Raman spectroscopy are standard techniques for the study of vibrations
\nin molecular systems and condensed matter. The lecture will remind how the corresponding
\nspectra can be obtained and analysed, what are their limitations in probing different
\nvibration modes, in which situations these methods may provide combined or complementary
\nresults. Theory approaches to describe infrared and Raman spectra will be considered,
\nand selection rules based on the group theory will be explained. Finally, practical examples
\nof calculation of spectra from within model approaches and from first principles will be given. \r\n
