wykształcenie:

  • 1988 – stopień magistra filologii angielskiej nadany przez Uniwersytet Wrocławski;
  • 2004 – stopień doktora nauk humanistycznych nadany przez Uniwersytet Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej w Lublinie na podstawie dysertacji Thomas Merton and Latin America: A Consonance of Voices.

Moje zainteresowania naukowe obejmują: poezję i prozę północnoamerykańską XX wieku, anarchizm chrześcijański, twórczość Thomasa Mertona, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem jego późnej poezji, nowe ruchy społeczne w USA, literaturę Chicano/a, ekokrytykę, studia nad zwierzętami i indygenicznością. Jestem beneficjentką kilku amerykańskich grantów badawczych, członkinią komitetu redakcyjnego rocznika The Merton Annual i zastępczynią redaktor naczelnej półrocznika Zoophilologica: Polish Journal of Animal Studies. W 2006 roku otrzymałam nagrodę Międzynarodowego Towarzystwa Mertonowskiego za monografię Thomas Merton and Latin America: a Consonance of Voices a w roku 2019 mój artykuł “Home on the Border: in Ana Castillo’s The Guardians: The Colonial Matrix of Power, Epistemic Disobedience, and Decolonial Love” otrzymał nagrodę Javier Coy Biennial Research Award przyznawaną co dwa lata przez Hiszpańskie Towarzystwo Amerykanistyczne. Przetłumaczyłam na język polski pamiętnik czikasawskiej autorki Lindy Hogan (Kobieta, Która czuwa nad światem, Wydawnictwo „Śląsk”, 2021). Obecnie kończę pracę nad monografią Nonanthropocentric Animal Ethic in Linda Hogan’s Poetry and Prose, która ukaże się nakładem wydawnictwa Routledge.

education:

  • 1988 – MA in English from the University of Wroclaw
  • 2004 – PhD awarded by the University of Maria Curie-Skłodowska in Lublin on the basis of dissertation entitled Thomas Merton and Latin America: A Consonance of Voices.

My research interests focus on 20th century North American prose and poetry, Christian anarchism, Thomas Merton’s late poetry, new social movements in the USA, Chicano/a literature, ecocriticism, Animal Studies, Indigeneity Studies. I am a beneficiary of several US research grants, member of the editorial committee of The Merton Annual, deputy editor of the biannual Zoophilologica: Polish Journal of Animal Studies. My monograph Thomas Merton and Latin America: a Consonance of Voices was recognized by the International Thomas Merton Society as the best publication on Thomas Merton which had come out between 2004 and 2006; in 2019 my article “Home on the Border: in Ana Castillo’s The Guardians: The Colonial Matrix of Power, Epistemic Disobedience, and Decolonial Love” received the biennial Javier Coy Biennial Research Award from the Spanish Association for American Studies. Most recently I translated into Polish Linda Hogan’s memoir The Woman Who Watches Over the World and finished writing a monograph Nonanthropocentric Animal Ethic in Linda Hogan’s Poetry and Prose (forthcoming form Routledge).
