Converting grades from secondary education certificates and diplomas obtained outside of Poland

A candidate who has completed secondary education outside of Poland may apply for admission to the first year of studies, if their secondary school-leaving certificate or other equivalent document entitles them to apply for admission to higher education in the country in which they completed the secondary school. These candidates are under the admitted for studies under the same rules as candidates who have passed the “new Polish matura exam” at the basic level using the principle of proportion: the lowest positive grade corresponds to 30%, and the highest to 100%, in accordance with the rules of recruitment for a given field of study or specialty.

Grades of candidates who have completed secondary school or studies outside of Poland are usually expressed in a different scale than that applicable in Poland. For the purposes of recruitment for studies at the University of Silesia, the results of certificates or diplomas obtained outside of Poland will be converted to a scale corresponding to the Polish grading system.

The methods for converting grades for certificates and diplomas issued outside of Poland can be found in the tables below. If the method of converting grades from the country in which the candidate obtained a certificate or diploma has not been established, the decision on how the grades will be converted to the Polish scale belongs to the Faculty Recruitment Commission.

In case of study programmes or specialties where the admission criteria require the grade from the Polish language, instead of the grade from the Polish language, the language concerned is the official language of the country in which the document was issued, which allows undertaking first-cycle or uniform master’s studies.

[/vc_column][/vc_row]
