The final of the ninth edition of the National Competition of Knowledge about Canada \u2013 \u2018Discover Canada 2023\u2019 took place on 16-17 March 2023 at the Community Cultural Centre in \u017bory<\/strong><\/h3>\nThe ceremonial event and award ceremony were attended by Catherine Godin, Canadian Ambassador to Poland, Tomasz Pietrzykowski, Vice-Rector for International and Domestic Cooperation, Vice-Mayor of the City of \u017bory, other representatives of the local authorities and a representative of the Board of Education.<\/p>\n
Twelve students from across the country qualified for stage 3 of the competition, where they took an exam in selected aspects of Canada’s culture, history and politics. The participants also gave a presentation on “Canadian ways of dealing with the environmental crisis\u201d. \r\n

The project was held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of National Education, the Rector of the University of Silesia, the Canadian Embassy in Poland, the Polish Association of Canadian Studies, the Silesian Education Superintendent and Waldemar Socha, Mayor of \u017bory.<\/p>\n
The competition is an example of cooperation between the University of Silesia and the community. It consists of three stages: Stage 1 \u2013 School competition (online), Stage II \u2013 Semi-final at the Faculty of Humanities in Sosnowiec, Stage III \u2013 Final at the Community Cultural Centre in \u017bory.\u00a0The organising committee and the university committee of the competition include: Eugenia Sojka, PhD, DLitt (coordinator), Sabina Sweta Sen-Podstawska, PhD and Rafa\u0142 Madeja, MA.
