Access: https:\/\/aktyprawne.us.edu.pl\/423-lista\/d\/5653\/5\/<\/p>\n<p>(anonymous login).<\/p>\n<p>The new Regulations apply to all PhD candidates from October 1, 2022, in all cases, except for those started before October 1 (e.g., mid-term evaluation initiated in September).<\/p>\n<p>Main changes to the previous regulations:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Ratings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Resignation from grades for classes &#8211; from now on, only &#8220;passed&#8221; and &#8220;failed&#8221; apply. In cases where it is necessary to give an average grade, &#8220;zal&#8221; is treated as 5 and &#8220;nzal&#8221; as 2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Suspension of education<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Suspension of education for a period corresponding to the duration of maternity leave, leave on the terms of maternity leave, paternity leave, and parental leave &#8211; clarification of the procedure:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li>automatic extension of obligations resulting from the Individual Research Plan<\/li>\n<li>the requirement to individually determine the conditions under which the doctoral student returns after suspension, if the suspension does not cover the full academic year<\/li>\n<li>the obligation to submit a declaration on continuing education at the end of the suspension &#8211; under pain of removal<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<li><strong>Leave &#8211; an extension of the date for submitting a thesis<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>adding to the catalog of cases that make it possible to extend the deadline for submitting a doctoral dissertation on &#8220;the occurrence of other random events justifying the extension of education.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>the introduction of the term &#8220;leave&#8221; for those extensions that are not related to prolonged research<\/li>\n<li>entering a vacation request<\/li>\n<li>the requirement to individually determine the conditions under which the doctoral student returns after the leave, if the suspension does not cover the full academic year<\/li>\n<li>enabling the doctoral student to resign from receiving the scholarship during the leave (thanks to which he will receive it long after the leave)<\/li>\n<li>obligation to submit a statement on continuing education at the end of the leave &#8211; under pain of removal<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<li><strong>4. Scope of duties of PhD candidates &#8211; changes:<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Obligation to submit a grant project &#8211; supplementing the provision with the sentence &#8220;In particularly justified cases, and especially in the case of implementing a dissertation project or an implementation doctorate, the Dean may release the doctoral student from the obligation to submit an individual application.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>recording the obligation to read the information received from the Doctoral School: posted on the website of the Doctoral School and sent directly by e-mail.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>5. Composition of the doctoral student&#8217;s evaluation committee<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Enabling the inclusion of one person with at least a doctoral degree in the commission&#8217;s composition. The chairman of the commission and one member from outside the University of Silesia must have at least the degree of habilitated doctor<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Substantive care<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Simplifying the procedure of changing the supervisor. A doctoral student or a supervisor may apply for the dismissal of a supervisor. Previously, the person applying had to present a new candidate for the supervisor.
