The Transform4Europe Alliance invites scientists and researchers to apply for the Science Communication Programme. We are excited to announce a series of workshops conducted by science communication experts at the University of Silesia in Katowice

The aim of the project is to develop the science communication skills of researchers from T4EU partner universities and to create a joint Guideline for Best Practices in Science Communication.

This initiative will support academics in presenting their work more effectively, engaging diverse audiences, and integrating science communication into their research activities. Participants will also have the possibility to expand their skills in science communication – teaching, public speaking, and presenting scientific research. This is an excellent opportunity to develop current or future professional competencies.

The programme will include:

Workshops on Science Communication (13-14 October 2025)

A comprehensive series of interactive workshops, each led by an expert in the field, covering the principles, strategies, and practical techniques of science communication.

Development of the Guideline for Best Practices in Science Communication (after the workshops)

Knowledge and insights collected during workshops and festival activities will be compiled into a practical guideline for the entire T4EU alliance.

Optionally: Participation in the Silesian Science Festival (6-8 December 2025)

Selected researchers will be invited to one of Poland’s largest outreach events, where they will observe science communication practices in action, exchange experiences, and test their own skills.

In the ninth episode of Transform4Europe (T4EU) Reach Out Podcast, guest speaker Monika Frania, PhD at the University of Silesia in Katowice Institute of Pedagogy, takes us into the world of innovative teaching methods that are reshaping higher education.

The expert shares the story of the award-winning Educational Escape Room – a creative approach that in 2022 received the T4EU Innovative Teaching Award. In the conversation Monika Frania and the host Radosław Hojka, also from the University of Silesia, discuss what it is like to gain international recognition, those first moments of bringing the idea into university classrooms, and the ways the Covid-19 pandemic reshaped the experience.

What makes this method so unique? Why is it such a powerful tool in international education, and what challenges come with adapting it for diverse student groups across the Transform4Europe Alliance?

In beyond the classroom, Monika Frania reflects about the power of creativity and innovation in lifelong learning, why it is worth stepping outside traditional academic boundaries, and the benefits of exchanging ideas in international teams of students, educators, and researchers.

Representatives of the Transform4Europe Alliance took part in the EAIE Gothenburg 2025, held in Sweden from 9 to 12 September 2025.

As one of 35 alliances of European universities, Transform4Europe presented its joint educational offer and visions for the future of higher education. The event was an opportunity to meet with current and potential partners from around the world, improve the Alliance’s international profile, and discuss the future of European universities.

‘There are so many alliances here, we can clearly see that we share not only the same worries and challenges but also the wins. The exchange of ideas is valuable and only shows that cooperation is the key. Together we can be stronger than just by ourselves,’ said Sven Idarand, T4EU Secretary General.

Prof. Małgorzata Myśliwiec, project coordinator at the University of Silesia in Katowice, added that alliances have become catalysts of change:

‘The main takeaway for me is the vision of European universities as important actors in European higher education. It’s a very unique form of cooperation that might be inspiring for other universities around the world.’

Alain Trouillet (Jean Monnet University Saint-Étienne) referred to increasing global visibility:

‘While the world is rapidly changing and perspectives are changing along with it, European University Alliances are becoming increasingly visible and non-European partners are showing more and more interest in these alliances and the innovative perspectives that they propose.’

Organised by the European Association for International Education (EAIE), the conference is Europe’s largest annual event on the internationalisation of higher education. It serves as a key platform for the European Universities initiative, funded by the European Union. The aim of this initiative is to foster transnational cooperation so that the alliances become the universities of the future promoting European values and enhancing the quality and competitiveness of the sector as a whole.
