Jego zainteresowania naukowe koncentruj\u0105 si\u0119 wok\u00f3\u0142 kwestii kontakt\u00f3w mi\u0119dzy staro\u017cytn\u0105 Grecj\u0105 a staro\u017cytnym Bliskim Wschodem, staro\u017cytnej historiografii (zw\u0142aszcza Herodota i Ktezjasza) oraz historii imperi\u00f3w (zw\u0142aszcza Persji pod rz\u0105dami Achemenid\u00f3w). Profesor Rollinger jest autorem niezliczonych publikacji naukowych, w tym ksi\u0105\u017cek <em>Alexander und die gro\u00dfen Str\u00f6me.
