The new Board of the Polish Meteorite Society was elected on 17 March 2026. The Society\u2019s General Meeting of Members was held during the 14th Meteorite Conference in the Town of Koluszki. As a result, the position of the President was assumed by Krzysztof Szopa, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof., USil Faculty of Natural Sciences.<\/p>\n
Krzysztof Szopa\u2019s expertise revolves around the classification of meteorites and the study of extra-terrestrial matter. His work includes the co-description of Polish moldavites, an analysis of the fossil meteorite found in Lech\u00f3wka, and a characterisation of the meteorite that fell in Drel\u00f3w. It is worth noting that the Polish Meteoritic Society brings together scientists, as well as meteorite enthusiasts and collectors from all over Poland.<\/p>\n
The Society was founded on the initiative of Prof. \u0141ukasz Karwowski, who became its first president 24 years ago.
