(wtorek) o godz. 13:00 w sali 002<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Go\u015bciem seminarium b\u0119dzie<br \/>\n<strong>Associate Prof. Sebastian Breitenbach (Northumbria University)<\/strong> \u2013 kierownik laboratorium NICEST (Northumbria Isotope and Clumped Geothermometry for Environmental Studies) oraz paleoklimatolog specjalizuj\u0105cy si\u0119 w badaniach \u015brodowisk jaskiniowych i geochemii w\u0119glan\u00f3w. Jego badania koncentruj\u0105 si\u0119 na rekonstrukcji zmian klimatycznych i \u015brodowiskowych w przesz\u0142o\u015bci przy u\u017cyciu metod geochemicznych i izotopowych. W swojej pracy \u0142\u0105czy podej\u015bcie interdyscyplinarne, wsp\u00f3\u0142pracuj\u0105c m.in. z archeologami, antropologami i fizykami, a jego projekty obejmuj\u0105 r\u00f3\u017cne regiony \u015bwiata, w tym Europ\u0119, Azj\u0119 i Now\u0105 Zelandi\u0119.<\/p>\n<p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Podczas seminarium wyg\u0142osi wyk\u0142ad pt.:<\/p>\n<p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\"><strong>\u201cDeep Into the Continent and Back in Time \u2014 Where No One Has Gone Before\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">Wyk\u0142ad po\u015bwi\u0119cony b\u0119dzie roli kontynentalnej Eurazji w systemie klimatycznym Ziemi oraz wykorzystaniu naciek\u00f3w jaskiniowych jako archiw\u00f3w zmian \u015brodowiskowych w skali milion\u00f3w lat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">B\u0119dzie nam bardzo mi\u0142o go\u015bci\u0107 Pa\u0144stwa na tym wydarzeniu.<\/p>\n<p class=\"v1v1isSelectedEnd\">ABSTRACT:<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Continental Eurasia, with its vast permafrost deposits, boreal forests and dryland biomes, is a key regulator of global greenhouse gas dynamics and atmospheric circulation patterns. Despite its rapid response to global warming, reflected in accelerating permafrost thaw, intensifying wildfires, and increasing number of extreme events like droughts and floods, the environmental history of continental Eurasia remains poorly understood, due largely to availability of suitable archives.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559738&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I will introduce cave deposits as key archives for continental palaeoenvironmental changes. I will present some results of my team\u2019s work and discuss opportunities and challenges when working with speleothems in permafrost regions. Ongoing work reveals a rich history of environmental changes in Siberia and Mongolia since the Miocene. Using innovative analytical tools like clumped isotopes and organic geochemistry we gain fresh insights into past temperature, vegetation changes and moisture supply that are intimately linked to circulation dynamics.
