\r\n Psychology, Astrophysics, and Scientific Diplomacy \u2013 Dr. Agnieszka Skorupa, Professor at the University of Silesia, Participates in the International Panel \u201cGalileo\u2019s Legacy\u201d<\/p>\n

On October 14, 2026, Dr. Agnieszka Skorupa, a professor at the University of Silesia (U\u015a), from the Institute of Psychology at the University of Silesia in Katowice, participated in the international panel discussion \u201cGalileo\u2019s Legacy: From Copernicus and Galileo to Scientific Diplomacy,\u201d organized at the Ma\u0142opolska Science Center Cogiteon in Krak\u00f3w.<\/p>\n

The event, organized on the initiative of the Italian Cultural Institute in Krak\u00f3w in collaboration with international scientific institutions, was dedicated to the role of science in contemporary society, international cooperation, and the importance of scientific communication and building public trust in research.<\/p>\n

Representatives of Polish and Italian scientific institutions participated in the discussion, including Roberto Ferrari (director of the Galileo Museum in Florence), Alessandra Scaffidi Abbate (INAF, specialist in international cooperation), El\u017cbieta Kuligowska (Jagiellonian University, astronomer), and Marcos Valdes (VIS, astrophysicist). The panel was moderated by Caterina Boccato from the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF).<\/p>\n

One of the key topics of the meeting was the question of how to move from wonder at scientific discoveries (\u201cWOW\u201d) to a deeper reflection on how knowledge is generated (\u201cWHY\u201d). The discussion focused on the importance of popularizing science, fostering critical thinking, and educating the public about the principles of conducting rigorous scientific research. \r\n
