Pedagogy: Pre-School Education and Early School Education, 2nd cycle studies

The pedagogy programme, in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education on model educational effects of 4 November 2011, belongs to the areas of education in the field of humanities and social sciences. The subject of its research includes both the ideas (ideals, norms, obligations) and social practices. As a study of upbringing and education, Pedagogy combines two perspectives: humanistic and social. The humanistic perspective focuses on the essence of upbringing, teaching and learning, while the social perspective concerns educational environments, systems of educational care institutions, as well as their functions and importance in human development. Pedagogy is concerned with understanding how people develop and learn throughout their lives and how they prepare for life in a changing society. It includes the analysis of educational processes, systems and approaches together with their cultural, social, political, historical and economic contexts.

2nd cycle studies in the field of pre-school education and early school education are addressed to graduates of 1st cycle studies who have pedagogical preparation to work as teachers in pre-schools and grades 1-3 of primary schools (in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 6 August 2019 – Journal of Laws of 9 August 2019, item 1498).

During the studies, as part of elective courses and tutorials, the students can develop their own passions and talents and also complete the teacher’s workshop.

After graduation, the graduates of the studies will be prepared to perform tasks related to teaching and educational work in pre-schools and schools of various types as well as in other forms of organisation of children’s education (including public, local-government, and private), non-governmental organisations, cultural and educational institutions, institutions of extracurricular education, educational care institutions, as well as other subjects of social life related to the education of children at pre-school and early school age. The graduates will be prepared for educational activities conducted not only with young children, but also with their families. The graduates will be able to cooperate with the local community in order to provide children with favourable conditions for development. Moreover, the graduates acquire preparation and competences to conduct after-school and extracurricular activities.
