Through science, technology and collaboration, we are changing the world for the better<\/h3>\r\n

In 2015, leaders from 193 UN member countries signed the document “Transforming Our World: 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.<\/a>” This document contains 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that identify areas of critical importance to humanity and our planet: people, planet,\u00a0prosperity, peace,\u00a0and partnership.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Sustainable Development Goals<\/a> are an action plan for the transformation of the world in which the needs of the present generation\u00a0can be met\u00a0in a sustainable manner, with respect for the environment and taking into account the needs of future generations. Both the European Organization for Nuclear Research CERN and the University of Silesia in Katowice support the implementation of SDGs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In “CERN – fully engaged with the Sustainable Development Goals<\/a>“, published in 2017, Charlotte Lindberg\u00a0Warakaulle, CERN’s Director of International Relations, describes CERN’s commitment to supporting the SDGs in the context of fulfilling CERN’s core mission. CERN contributes to the five Sustainable Development Goals:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
