A beautiful smile is everyone’s dream. However, not everyone can boast of it. The biggest problem with a confident and beautiful smile is the lack of teeth, especially in the anterior region. Fortunately, modern dentistry comes with the solution. The gap left by the extracted tooth can be filled with an implant. Dental implants are an excellent substitute for lost teeth. They are aesthetic, health, and psychological solution. Replacing human teeth with implants allows you to maintain the correct chewing physiology, prevents facial deformation, and largely ensures freedom of speech and smile.

The dynamic development of regenerative and aesthetic medicine requires the use of newer and newer solutions, also in the field of dentistry. The use of modern technologies allows you to avoid many complications. Dental implants are most often made of titanium. Functionalization of the surface of dental implants using biocompatible and wear-resistant coatings enables rapid osseointegration and inhibits the growth of bacteria, reducing the risk of postoperative complications and, consequently, implant rejection.

At the Institute of Materials Engineering, in the “Corrosion of materials” research group, we deal with surface engineering of metallic biomaterials. We specialize in the development and testing of metallic, ceramic, polymer, and composite coatings using electrochemical techniques. We develop methods of producing new coatings with improved properties for medical applications. Our research group strives to ensure that the biomaterials we produce fulfill their numerous functions as long as possible, are corrosion-resistant, bioactive, support tissue regeneration and constitute intelligent drug carriers. One of the results of our work is patents regarding new solutions in the development of innovative dental implants, the purpose of which is to support the process of integrating the implant with bone tissue.

[/vc_column][/vc_row]
