Event The Metropolitan Imperative: Pathways for enhancement of EU competitiveness

How can Europe’s metropolitan areas drive prosperity and cohesion?
What tools do they need to unlock their full potential?

Join us for a high-level seminar at the European Parliament in Brussels on 19 November, 14:00–16:00, organised within the MECOG-CE project.

The event will feature:
▶︎An inspiring keynote presentation setting the scene for metropolitan cooperation in Europe.
▶︎A high-level panel discussion with experts, policymakers and metropolitan representatives exploring:
– the role of metropolitan areas in strengthening Europe’s competitiveness,
– how Cohesion Policy can better reflect their potential,
– how the upcoming Multiannual Financial Framework can support their strategic development.

Following the Common Metropolitan Vision (one of MECOG-CE’s core outcomes), this seminar looks at the necessary steps for metropolitan areas in creating a greener, more connected, and resilient Europe.

The seminar is co-hosted by:
Ondřej Krutílek (ECR, CZ), Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz (EPP, PL), Marcos Ros Sempere (S&D, ES)
