During the Strategic Assembly – the annual meeting of members of the Transform4Europe alliance – the Science Slam was held for the first time. As part of the initiative, five people from four T4EU universities shared their scientific passions. The audience decided about the victory. The winner was Nino Bašić, PhD from the University of Primorska (Slovenia). Second place was taken by Ewa Wylężek, PhD from the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Silesia in Katowice with a presentation: ‘Heimat, Hajmat, Homeland – how do minorities communicate?’.

Science Slam is a unique scientific communication format in which researchers present their work in a light form, in a way that is understandable to a wide audience. Each participant had 10 minutes to present their own research, using any props and visual aids. Science Slam aims to make science accessible and engaging to a wider audience, foster dialogue between scientists and society, and showcase the diversity of research topics and methods across all fields of science.

The event took place on 4 October 2023 during the T4EU meeting at the Saarland University in Saarbrücken, Germany.
