Science Communication Workshop – The Never-Ending Story: Pi Day Celebration

This workshop provides a comprehensive overview of how to design, organize, promote, and communicate Pi Day as an effective science communication event, combining strategic planning, creative promotion, space design, and hands‑on activities.

  • The history and idea of Pi Day around the world.
  • How was Pi Day established at the University of Silesia?
  • Why does Pi Day serve as a science communication tool?
  1. Organizing Pi Day
  • Pi Day organizer and coordinating team.
  • Preparation stages and the program board’s work.
  • Call for activities.
  • Concept for the opening lecture.
  • Event color theme.
  • Organization of contests, games, and playful activities.
  • Event budget planning.
  • Seeking sponsors.
  • Creating the program and agenda.
  1. Event Promotion
  • Website and registration forms.
  • Design of promotional graphics.
  • Poster design and T‑shirt design.
  • Mailing to schools.
  • Seeking media and honorary patronage.
  • Promotion in the media.
  • Opening registration and sending invitations/reminders to registered participants, including travel instructions.
  • Production of the Pi‑Matrixator (event newsletter).
  1. Creating the Pi Day Space
  • Organization of faculty buildings (signage and wayfinding).
  • Placement of the University of Silesia / Faculty branding.
  1. Practical Workshop
  • How to write a popular science description that attracts participants – transforming a scientific topic into an accessible and engaging text.
  • Proposal of activity formats such as contests or games.
  • Group work and joint discussion of outcomes.

Registration: T4EU Science Communication Workshops

The workshop will be held via Teams. Participants who complete the workshop will receive a certificate of attendance issued by T4EU.
