Nina Kumorek (vocalist) i Wojciech Brzoza (guitar)—2nd cycle USil students in Music Education—have been selected to perform during the international Fest’u Festival organised by Jean Monnet University in Saint-Étienne, France.

Being selected for the lineup was a great honour as the organisers received a total of 105 applications from 11 European universities belonging to the Transform4Europe Alliance, of which only five were chosen.

During the festival, which took place in the last week of May, students represented the University of Silesia on the stage of a French partner university. Performing for an international audience, they presented a repertoire that included jazz standards, original compositions, and their own arrangements.

The programme of the event also included workshops on professional audio and video production, team-building meetings and activities to foster the cooperation between students from different European countries. Participation in Fest’U was not only an opportunity to perform their own music. They get new artistic and cultural experiences and exchanged inspiration in an international environment.

The four-day stay in Saint-Étienne was a period of intensive creative work, musical encounters, and relationship-building between representatives of partner universities. The invitation to take part in Fest’U was a recognition of the students of the University of Silesia’s artistic achievements to date.

The trip was organised thanks to the cooperation of the University of Silesia, Jean Monnet University in Saint-Étienne and the Transform4Europe Alliance.
