The University of Silesia Library and the University of Silesia Publishing House have completed a ministerial project related to the digitization and access to scientific articles under the Social Responsibility of Science II – Support for Scientific Libraries program (BIBL/SP/0050/2024/02).
As part of the project activities, the contractors:
- prepared digital versions of 2,344 articles from 10 journals (” Chowanna “, ” Folia Philosophica “, ” Upper Silesian Sociological Studies. New Series “, ” Iudaica Russica “, ” Neophilologica “, ” Problems of Private International Law “, ” Polish and Universal Middle Ages “, ” Silesian Historical and Theological Studies “, ” Old and New Ages ” and ” On the Theory and Didactic Practice of the Polish Language “);
- prepared English-language abstracts and keywords for publication;
- prepared sets of appendices bibliographies;
- made articles and metadata available on the university journal platform ;
- assigned digital DOI identifiers to publications registered in the Crossref database.
The implementation of the project was made possible by:
- digital access to articles published between 2005 and 2019 (many of them were previously available only in paper form and only on-site at the library);
- preparing a fully searchable version thanks to OCR;
- the possibility of reaching a wider audience (especially non-Polish-speaking ones) with the research results contained in the articles;
- increasing the number of citations of articles registered in Google Scholar;
- making texts available to people with visual impairments.
We invite you to read the article summarizing the project entitled UŚ Magazines for Everyone (authored by Magdalena Krzyżanowska).
