About Us

The SPIN-Lab Centre for Microscopic Research on Matter (CMBM SPIN-Lab) consists of new laboratories tailored to the requirements of the latest electron and atomic force microscopes. It also provides facilities for scientific and R&D work as well as for the provision of services and implementation of projects.

Project objectives

The objectives of the SPIN-Lab project involve comprehensive consolidation and integration of R&D potential and competencies in microscopic research within the newly established centre at the University of Silesia in Katowice. Its innovative character is reflected not only in the unique research infrastructure and modern organisational structure but also in the integrated research and education programmes involving the project’s business partners and cooperating research units such as the Silesian University of Technology and the Medical University of Silesia.

Project implementation

The implementation of the CMBM SPIN-Lab project, consisting of, among others, the participation in the global trend of microscopic research development in biological, biochemical, engineering, medical and pharmaceutical materials, will enable us to establish a centre of excellence in the field of ‘soft matter’ research.

The centre introduces and promotes good practices for the organisation and management of research infrastructure in research and teaching units.
